Kenneth John Desroches

March 23, 1943 — April 28, 2017

Kenneth John DesRoches, 74 years and a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish passed peacefully in his home as he was loving held by family members, Penny (his love of 54 years), their four children Laurie (Chris), Brett, Bart (Candi), and Lea’ (Joe) on the morning of Friday, April 28, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. Kenny will be missed so much by his six grandsons, Blake, Hunter, Beaux, Brennan, his name sake Kennen and Dalton along with his three sweet granddaughters Dallas, Ellie and Grace. They all will remember the man they called “Paw”. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Eugene James DesRoches and Dorothy Blanche Hebert of Harvey, La. He will always remain in his brother’s heart, Jerald (Gloria), San Francisco, CA and also his nephew Jamie (Mary Kay) nieces Jeanne and Julie (Mike).
Kenny was a machinist by trade and worked for Avondale in Harvey many years ago with fellow workers he was still friends with to this day. Other co-workers will remember him from T.C.S. on Engineers Road and on the jobs performed on the platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. He was a graduate of West Jefferson Class of 1962 and then went to Delgado City Park Campus earning an Associate’s Degree.
If his fondest memories over the last 10 years were weekends and Thanksgivings at the Family Compound in Magnolia, MS where he fished, rode four wheelers, hunted deer in season, cooked his famous deer sausage and noodles while all his family and friends sat on the porch eating, listening to country music as the home-made barn fire blazed away under a cold night filled with stars. He wanted his ashes scattered there on the land he loved… As the family heals it will one day come to pass.
Cruisin the Coast with his 1927 Bugatti and entering his 1949 Fire Truck in area car shows was one of his favorite hobbies, along with a keen talent for target shooting his compound bow and several years competing in the Senior Olympic finals.
After a brief battle with liver disease, his wishes were made long ago to be cremated immediately after passing. A Memorial Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, May 4, 2017 beginning at 4PM. A Memorial Mass will be held in the Chapel at 5PM. After Mass, visitation will resume until 9PM.
The DesRoches Family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for the devoted, kind and excellent care for Our Dear One.
