Kenneth Joseph "Ken" Pellegrin

April 13, 1947 — December 17, 2024

Marrero

Kenneth Joseph “Ken” Pellegrin, April 13, 1947 - December 17, 2024. Beloved husband and best friend of Peggy Melanson Pellegrin for 58 wonderful and memorable years. Devoted and loving father of Dana M. Pellegrin (Christopher Wiseman) and Jace A. Pellegrin (Kyla Sholar Pellegrin), who will always cherish their life with him. Loving grandfather (“Pa Pa”) of Kali Pellegrin and Karina Pellegrin. Son of the late Louis A. Pellegrin and Ruby M. Bolotte Pellegrin, and brother of the late Robert Pellegrin. Survived by loving sister Alida Pellegrin Moffat (Jim) and brother Durell Pellegrin (Patsy). Also survived by many nephews and nieces who truly considered him a second father, and survived by six step-grandchildren, other family members, and many dear friends. A native and long-time resident of Marrero and a graduate of West Jefferson High School, Ken was a lifelong fisherman, hunter, and lover of life and all people. He treasured spending time with his family and friends, especially his fellow members of West Jeff Class of 1965, hunting and fishing companions, school friends, and former customers from his time in oilfield sales at Lafarge and Lone Star Industries. Ken loved volunteering his time and talents, and was a member of the Westbank chapter of CCA Louisiana, the Bass Club “Bucket Truck” out of Joe’s Landing, and rode in the Krewe of Choctaw. He enjoyed LSU football, a Jack Daniel’s Manhattan, and the occasional cigar. He had a huge heart, was loyal to all, a stranger to few, and embraced life and all that it brings with unwavering enthusiasm, hard work, and a belief that being a good man to all was his purpose in life, and ultimately, his gift to us. Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 28, at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, in Marrero. Visitation for the public begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, prayers or Masses in Ken’s name would be appreciated. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.mothefunerals.com.

“God saw you getting weary, and did what he thought best. He came and stood beside you, and whispered ‘Come, and rest.’ You bid no one farewell, not even goodbye; you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day that God called you home. God gave us the strength to bear it, gave us the courage to take the blow; but what it meant to lose you, God will only know.”
