Kenning James (“Jim”) McNamara, Jr. went to eternal rest on September 1, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Sharon Sommerhalder McNamara for over 50 years, Father of Gina McNamara Klein (Robert Klein) and Christie McNamara Haydel (Mark Haydel). Grandfather of Emile M.Barbe’ III, Michael Kenning Machado, Cole A. Haydel and Cameron E. Haydel. Son of the late Kenning J. McNamara, Sr and Mildred Mizell McNamara (Late) of Bogalusa, LA. Brother of the late Cathy McNamara Percy and brother-in- law of Frank Percy, Sr. Brother-in-law of Jane Ann Sommerhalder Adcox (Clyde). He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Survived by his furry babies, Maggie and Ellie.
He was employed with Entergy and Willbros Group as an electrical engineer for Phillips 66 before retiring in 2014. Jim served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University.
Jim and his late wife Sharon were active parishioners of St. Cletus Catholic Church. Jim favorite’s hobby late in life was Saturday mornings at the RC Field in Avondale where he enjoyed flying his radio-controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed his annual beach getaways every summer.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at Bayside Nursing Home in Gretna for their care during the last 5 years.
Relatives and close friends of Jim are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd Marrero, LA on Saturday September 7th, 2024, brief visitation begins at 11:00 am followed by a Mass beginning at 11:30 am.
