Lamar "Pete" Shaw

Lamar “Pete” Shaw of New Orleans, LA passed away on April 1, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Father of Nancy Shaw of Baton Rouge, LA and Jerry Shaw of New Orleans, LA.
He was born on June 10, 1920 in Brundidge, AL, resided in New Orleans, LA and is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Maurice “Smitty” Shaw; parents, Roxie Tiser Shaw and William T. Shaw; brothers, Ellison and John L. along with his sisters, Ellie and Lilly.
Lamar was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country during World War II. He retired from the Navy, after 22 years of service, as a Chief Hospital Corpsman and later worked for U.S. Public Health Service as a Quarantine Inspector for 23 years.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to your favorite charity. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Westbank Lighthouse for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Graveside Service on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 for 10:30 AM at McDonogh Cemetery, 500 Hancock Street, Gretna, LA 70053.
