Lanis Lee Hunter Hughes

Lanis Lee Hunter Hughes, age 85 passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9:23AM at her home in Covington, LA. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Lanis was a loving wife of 69 years to Raymond Hughes, Sr. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend sharing with them endless amounts of love and affection. She has had an enormous impact on many lives and will be dearly missed. Lanis is survived by her sister, Vernell Martin, her daughter, Lana Rae Hughes Agaisse (John) and her son, Raymond Hughes, Jr. (Minette); her grandchildren, Shellie, Larae, Shanna, Hope, Gerald and Megan and 8 great grandchildren. Lanis will also be missed by her son-in-law, Gerald Breland. Lanis was preceded in death by her 2 daughters, Brenda Hughes Breland and Lillian Hughes Corcoran; her parents, Lena Hunter and Frank Hunter; her 2 sisters and 6 brothers and her son-in-law, Ned Corcoran. She was born in Lockney, Texas; resided for over 60 years in Belle Chasse, LA and recently a resident of Covington, LA. She was an employee of River Oaks Academy for many years.
