Lawrence "Jay" Joseph Dunne went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2016. Beloved husband of Joanne Guillot Dunne. Father of Heidi D. Barrett (Austin) and Chad Dunne (Alisha). Step-father of Charlotte Rickoll (Charles Jr.), Melissa Boudreaux (Jerry Jr.), and Jennifer Berthelot. Grandfather of Austin, Shelby, Kadence, Kaylee, and Landon. Step-grandfather of Patrick, Marissa, Jerry III, Macy, Brendan, Marie, Charles III, Bryce, Jonathan, Christina and the late Christian and Joel. Son of the late Lauris Dunne and Earline Foret Dunne. Brother of Eileen Stanley, Eugene Dunne (Nancy), and Linda Caruso (Louis). Age 65 years, a native of New Orleans and resident of Marrero for the last 26 years.
Jay was a graduate of Abramson High School in New Orleans and served six years in the Louisiana National Guard, where he was trained in metal body repair. He took great pride in restoring New Orleans streetcars during the last years of his career at RTA. He loved playing Santa for Butler Elementary students and others. His unique sense of humor always kept everyone laughing. He was a loyal husband, son, dad, grandfather, sibling, and friend with a huge heart. He was an excellent cook with his specialty being the world's best red beans. He loved and served the Lord and will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Heritage Bible Church, 785 Heritage Ave., Gretna, LA on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10 AM until Memorial Service time at 12 PM.
