Lawrence Harvey Sawatsky

April 22, 1933 — March 2, 2023

Lawrence Harvey Sawatsky entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Alice Sawatsky for 28 years. Father of Larry James Sawatsky and Sheryl Lynn Sawatsky. Beloved son of the late Bernard Kenneth Sawatsky and the late Margaret Loewen Sawatsky. Brother of Lois Wenzel. Loving Grandfather of Colin Gildersleeve and Cole Decuers. Loving Great Grandfather of Amanda Gildersleeve. He was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and resided in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lawrence “Bud” Sawatsky was an exceptional man. He had a degree in Engineering and a Masters in Geology. He worked for Shell Oil his entire career and retired at the top of his game. After his retirement from Shell, he went on to successfully consult for a couple of oil companies until he decided to retire for good. He then moved to Jacksonville, Alabama where he bought the old Aderholt Mill property. He and his wife, Alice worked on renovating this property for the next 20 something years. He loved to swim and scuba dive in his youth and excelled at this hobby. He enjoyed sailing as well. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He will be dearly missed.
