Leighton J. Buras passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on April 5, 2013 at the age of 62 years. Beloved husband of 37 years to Annette Gartoucies Buras. Father of Leighton Guarnere (Sarah), Michelle Reddoch (Marcus) and Clay C. Buras (Magen). Grandfather of Braiden, Landon and Camden Guarnere, Alex Reddoch, Bonnie and Clay Buras. Brother of Gus and Chuck Buras and Melanie Alesich. Son of the late Gustave and Enid “Betty” Buras. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and later retired from Chevron as an Engine Analyst Supervisor. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan and brought his talents to the community as a Little League Baseball coach and an organizer with the Black and Gold Golf Tournament.
Leighton’s life was enriched as a heart transplant recipient 18 years ago and again 7 years ago with a kidney, donated by his son, Clay. He was a courageous and loving husband, father and friend and will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Port Sulphur, LA on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow.
