Lelia Barbier Hymel entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Karl John Hymel. Daughter of the late Thomas Barbier and Lydia LeBlanc Barbier. Mother of Karl James Hymel (Wife Kitty). Grandmother of Chelsea Heffker (Husband Robert, Sr.) and the late Mateo Machella. Great Grandmother of Briana Heffker, Corynn Schouest and Robert Heffker, Jr. Sister of Roland Barbier (Wife Willie), Linda Mole (Husband Mike), Mickey Lee (Husband, the late Wallace) and the late Eddie Barbier (Wife, the late Jeanne), Ivy Barbier(Wife, the late Alphoncene) and Edith Ulrich (Husband, the late John). Lelia was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6793, Ladies Auxiliary and Waggaman Golden Agers. She was born in Lockport, LA, resided in Westwego, LA and presently a resident of Algiers for the past 6 years. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Canon Hospice and Ms. Brenda Burton for their love and care given to Lelia during her illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 6PM to 9PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday from 8AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the funeral home on Saturday at 11AM.
