Leo Joseph Champagne

Leo Joseph Champagne Sr. entered into peaceful eternal rest on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the age of 78. Leo was blessed with a large family and was loved by the following family members in addition to many who were so close to him: He was the devoted and loving son of the late Leo John and Marie Champagne. Survived by his beloved sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Joseph Baldassaro. Loving father and step-father of Charmaine Moniz, Leo Champagne II, Pamela Garcia Ortiz, Cynthia Wullschleger, Debbie Wullschleger, Sonya Frierson, Melissa Benieke, and Ann Ducote. Proud grandfather of, Rosalyn Mullins, Miranda Armstrong, Billy Gonzales II , Gabriel Gonzales, Roy Calip II, Leo Champagne III, Robert Champagne, Andrea Champagne, Lynette Champagne, Crystal Champagne, Madeline Mancillas, Paul Garcia, and Erica Garcia. Proud great-grandfather of, Karma Reclusado, Peter Reclusado, Keimora Armstrong, Marissa Gonzales, Ethan Gonzales, Leo Champagne IIII, Gabriel Champagne, James Salazar, Jayson Salazar, Alana Rivas, Alyssa Maldonado, Elise Garcia, and Urijah Rodriguez. Survived by Mary Champagne and Cindy Trias Champagne. Beloved uncle of Dorothy Baldassaro, Michael Baldassaro, Tony Baldassaro, Joseph Baldassaro II, John Baldassaro, and Frank Baldassaro. Beloved great-grand uncle of 15 great-grand nieces and nephews and great-great-grand-uncle of 30 nieces and nephews. He was a native of Louisiana, and worked as an arc welder. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was Honorably discharged. Some of his pleasures in life were fishing, hunting, and sports. He enjoyed a good game, and thoroughbred horses. He loved our Lord, and prayer. He will live on in our hearts and fond memories. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
