On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Leonard Voos McCrea, Jr. loving husband and father of two, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by his family, in Marrero, LA. Leonard was born on January 4, 1935 in New Orleans, LA, to the late Leonard and Mary Judson McCrea. He attended Louisiana State University, served in the United States Marine Corps, and retired from Arthur Gallagher Insurance Company. On September 26, 1964, he married Carole Yaeger and they raised two daughters, Cheryl and Lori. Leonard was a devout Catholic, having served as Grand Knight of St. Thomas More Council #7226, and was the founding Faithful Navigator of Msgr. Paul J. Richard Assembly #2053, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He also served as a Lector and Eucharistic minister at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed golf, working in the garden and painting. He is survived by his wife Carole Yaeger of 58 years, and daughters, Cheryl Eberhardt (Keith), and Lori Johnson (Earl). He will be missed by many, including his niece, Karen Miller, his nephews, Joseph “J.L.” Miller and William “Billy” Gallier and his beloved cat, Molly. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Leonard V. McCrea, Sr., and Mary Judson McCrea, and his sisters, Mary Margaret Gallier, and his twin, Barbara Ann McCrea. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Wynhoven Health Care Center. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11am.
