Leonard J. Russo passed away on April 10, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late LaVerne Inguagiato Russo. Father of David Russo (Becky), Christine Russo Lorensen (Rick) and LCDR Stephen Russo, U.S.N. Grandfather of Heather, Logan, Russ, Nicholas, Molly, Suzanne, Kate, Dylan and Adam. Great-grandfather of Justin, Kayla, Carly and Graham. Brother of Ernest and Jasper Russo, the late Joseph Russo, Virginia Danna and her twin John Russo, Jr., and Anthony Russo. Son of the late Santa Butera Russo and John Russo, Sr.
Leonard was born in New Orleans, LA, raised in St. Martinville, LA and was a longtime resident of New Orleans and the Westbank. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of Luzon, The Philippines and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After 38 years, he retired from Avondale Shipyards as Material Department Superintendent. Leonard was a member of Belle Chasse AARP Chapter 4034, a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Gretna and was an avid New Orleans Saints football fan from the beginning!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM.
