Leslie "Biggy" Mendoza

Leslie “Biggy” Mendoza entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the age of 85. Biggy was born July 12, 1930 in Marrero, LA to Claire Blanchard Mendoza of Plattenville, LA and Antonio Mendoza of New Orleans, LA. Beloved and devoted husband of 58 years to Gloria Matherne Mendoza. Loving father of Stanley Michael Mendoza (Lori) and Gary Ross Mendoza. Beloved grandfather of Shelly Gendron. Brother of Claire Mendoza, June Lewis (Bob), Al Mendoza (Vivian), Gail Bruno (Lester), Sandra Bergeron (Eddie) and the late Elmo Mendoza (Jeanette), Irene Bourg (Junius), Mildred LeBlanc Lee (Ivy), Anthony “Buddy” Mendoza (Mona), Louise Bourke (Murphy), Rosemary English (Chuck) and Malcolm “Key” Mendoza (Juanita). Biggy was a resident of Marrero, LA enjoying his retirement after 40 plus years working as a self employed contractor. After graduating from Marrero High School, Biggy enlisted in the United States Army serving as PFC during the Allied occupation of Germany obtaining an Honorable Discharge in 1950. Biggy was an exceptional athlete, after serving in the Army, Biggy signed a minor league (AAA) baseball contract with an affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
