Lester J. Guidry, Jr. passed peacefully in his sleep on October 17, 2024, and is survived by his wife of 50 years, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a sister, 2 brothers and more dear friends than can be counted. Lester served as a proud firefighter and mentor on the Westbank for over 44 years. He lived a life full of infectious laughter, love and generosity, and he will be dearly missed by all that met him.
Beloved husband of Annemarie Keretz Guidry. Loving father of Michelle Guidry, Lester J. Guidry III (Rachael), and Ryan Guidry (Ashley). Grandfather of Lexie (Ron), Tate (Courtney), Kyra, Kale, Sheldon, Royce, and Rylan. Great-grandfather of Riley, Aubree, and Noah. Brother of Lynn Clulee (the Warren), Chris and Scott Guidry, and the late Leland Guidry. Son of the late Youland Parks Guidry and Lester Joseph Guidry, Sr. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Lester was a lifelong resident of the Westbank. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and later, served his community as a firefighter for Jefferson Parish, serving the communities of Marrero-Ragusa, Marrero-Harvey, Marrero-Estelle, Lafitte, Gould, Crockett and Terrytown. He was an operator, instructor at the training center, and fire prevention officer. He was a certified Taekwondo instructor and was a member of the ATA. Family was everything to him and he never met a stranger. He lived his life to serve others and touched the lives of so many people. While his passing is sorrowful, his life and legacy will be celebrated.
