Louis J. Duet July 8, 1919- April 22, 2011 A proud World War II Veteran, Louis J. Duet left his family on Good Friday to be with the love of his life of 70 years. He was 91. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved wife Carmelita, his parents, Donatien and Emily Callais Duet and twenty brothers and sisters. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, three children. Sons Donald (Mary), Louis Jr. (Christine) and daughter Mary (A). Nine grandchildren; Dara (Jay), Desiree, Michael, David (Crystal), Donald Jr. (Madoka), Louis (Loretta), Mary (Jimmy), Grace (Peter), Kathleen (Byron), and twenty great grandchildren. After retiring as an optical specialist for many years he enjoyed an avid social life that centered around his family and his church St. Mary Magdalene where he was a tenor in the choir for many years. He and his wife were both major contributors and Charter Members of the St. Jude Society. His two favorite hobbies were gardening and being in his woodworking shop where he created hundreds of beautiful handmade pieces of art that reflected both his creativity and his devotion to God. Along with his wife he lived a life of selfless kindness and devotion to the Lord and his family. Since his wife’s passing less than a year ago he has wanted nothing more than to join her. Today God saw favor in him. He now resides with her in eternal magnificence with our Lord. To our dad, pawpaw and big pawpaw. We will always love you. Special thanks to his many doctors and their staff, Harmony Hospice and his caregiver Connie Doughty. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 6425 West Metairie, Metairie LA on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11 AM. Interment to follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be Friday, from 9:30 AM until 11 AM.
