Louis G. Laborie

Louis G. Laborie, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his parents Josephine Messina Laborie and Louis G. Laborie, Sr. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucy Caramonta Laborie and the father of Luann L. Woyak (Robert), Thomas Laborie (Sandra) and Marguerite L. Durrett (John). He was a loving brother to Sr. Elizabeth Ann Laborie and Sr. Marie Therese Laborie, of the Marianites of Holy Cross Convent, who resided with him at Our Lady of Wisdom. He was preceded in death by his other siblings the late Charles (Bertha), Andrew (late Jenny), Eldred (Wanda), Edgar (Evelyn), John (the late Hilda), Henry, Anna L. Harvey (the late William), Louise L. Ragusa (late Anthony), Carmelite L. Rhiner (late Paul) and Mary L. Donarski (late Art). Louis was also survived by his grandchildren Robbie Woyak (Kathy), Kevin Woyak (Karen), Louis Woyak (Melanie), Laura W. Lager (Bernie), Jeffrey Laborie (Dawn), Jennifer L. Hart (John), Shelly L. Rodriguez (Jose), John Austin Durrett (Jill), Christopher Durrett (Crystal), and Collin Durrett. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Louis served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theater during World War II. He later retired from Jefferson Parish Roads and Bridges in 1978 after many years of service. He was an avid reader and remained very active "tinkering" with electronics at his home for these many past years. He has resided at Our Lady of Wisdom for the last three years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center Chapel 5600 General DeGaulle Drive Algiers, La on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
