Lucy Ann Caimi Toncrey Lewis, age 92 and a resident of Gretna passed into the realm of Our Holy Father on Monday, August 1, 2011. Born in 1919, she was a native of Algiers. Lucy was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church where she was baptized and married. She worked many years at Elmer Candies and enjoyed sewing, shopping and going to the beauty parlor. An excellent cook, Lucy was known for the wonderful food she served at her many St. Joseph’s Alters. She was married three times, to Hilrie Toncrey, Sr., Ray Lewis and Michael Samaha and outlived them all.
Lucy is survived by her son, Ronnie Anthony Toncrey, Sr. (Dawn); Grandchildren Kellie Toncrey Richie, Connie Toncrey Williams (Luis), Ronnie Anthony Toncrey, Jr.(Angela), Calvin Michael Eskew (Crystal), Hilrie Joseph Toncrey III (Amy); Great-grandchildren Emily Hill Williams, Heath Joseph Toncrey, Katherine Pearle Jernigan, McGuire Joseph Toncrey, Serling Paige Toncrey, Kayleigh Elizabeth Toncrey and Calleigh Renee’ Eskew; sibling Lena Caimi Coldiron; nephews William Coldiron and Chita Caimi, Jr. (Bonnie); and nieces Sue Bullock Johnston, Cynthia Ann Lehmann, Maria Caimi Miller and Rosemarie Ann Caimi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Caimi and Lena B. Caimi, and her siblings Vic Caimi, Mary Caimi Turpie, Chita Caimi, Rosalie Caimi Trosclair, Joseph Anthony Caimi, and Frank Caimi, Jr.; and her beloved son Hilrie Joseph Toncrey, Jr.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 9am to 11am.
