Lynne Elizabeth Gomer Zane

June 24, 1946 — November 29, 2022

Lynne Elizabeth Gomer Zane passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 at the age of 76. Beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Yetta Gorelick Gomer. Sister of Ronald Gomer and the late Gerald Gomer. Mother of Kelly Holder and Robert Holder (Glenda). Grandmother of Chelcie Stokes (John), Chas Holder (Victoria), and Brandon Clark. Great-grandmother of Chasten, Makynlie, and Brogen Stokes, Joycelynn and Bentley Holder. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

She served her country in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring in 1996 as Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class (BM2) and was active in the Reserves. She owned Coasty Marine I, a maritime consulting firm. She attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She had a love for animals. Her cats and her family were her world. She loved being on the water. She moved to Port Sulphur as a young adult, and not even a hurricane could make her leave. She loved her home and her community. She said there was no place like home, and being between the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi River brought joy to her heart. To know Lynne was to love her. Her bright smile brought joy to others. She was a hard worker, and would help anyone in need. If you had a conversation with her, you quickly learned her whole life story including every detail about her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and the world is a better place for having her in it.
