Madelin Lemoine Groenhagen

January 14, 1986 — July 8, 2023

Madelin Lemoine Groenhagen, known to many as “Shannon”, sadly passed away on Saturday, July 8th, 2023. She passed away at the age of 37 at her home in New Orleans, LA and will be missed dearly by everyone.

Madelin was born on January 14th, 1986, to her late father Blaine Lemoine and her mother Maria Lemoine in Dodge City, Kansas. Madelin spent her childhood growing up between Lawrence, KS and New Orleans, LA. She was an extremely bright and gifted student. She attended Immaculata High School in New Orleans and went on to graduate from Lawrence Free State High School in Kansas in 2004. Madelin was an excellent soccer player and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Kansas. She later transferred to ITT Technical Institute, where she earned certifications in Electronic Engineering.

In 2007, Madelin moved back to New Orleans to be with her grandmother Juanita and pursued a career in the Hospitality industry. She worked for several 5-star hotels in the city, then transitioned to Sales and Marketing, where she worked for restaurants booking private events and banquets. She even handled some of the IT work for their websites.

In 2016, Madelin met her soulmate John, and they lived together in their New Orleans home up until the time of her passing. They shared as very special bond, they traveled all over the country together, and spent their weekends playing music together. Madelin was an extremely gifted pianist, and her favorite song was Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. She had the biggest heart in the world and would do absolutely anything for her family and friends. She had an outgoing, loving personality that could light up an entire room.

In 2020, Madelin fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened her own destination management company called “Mad Destinations”. She built the website entirely by herself and handled all aspects of the business from booking to advertising, to coordinating, even building dance floors for several weddings on Pensacola Beach. Madelin was also a member of MSWIT (Mid-South Women in Tourism), and her company was accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

Madelin is survived by her mother Maria Lemoine, grandparents Juanita Lemoine, David Lemoine, Karen Groenhagen, Don and Joy Groenhagen, stepmother Gina Lemoine, brothers and sisters Jordan Lemoine, Trey Moore, Brittany Cheek, and DeAnn Hughes, son Bryce Johnson, and her sweetheart John Burris.
