MANUEL J. “SONNY” AGUILAR SR
AGUILAR, Manuel J. (known as “Sonny”) passed away at West Jefferson Hospital on July 15, 2013, at age 75. Son of the late Jose Rafael Aguilar and Hortense G. Flis; husband of the late Peggy Aguilar. Sonny is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Gail L. Aguilar, and son, Manuel J. Aguilar Jr., of Terrytown.; his step-daughter Linda Valentine; grandchildren: Lindsay and Lauren; great grandson Jacob; his sister Rayma Fabre and his brother Joseph Aguilar; and family: Paula, Paul, Suzzette, Hope, Trudy, and Jerry; Joey, Annette, and Eileen. He is also survived by his loving and long-term companion, Nobie Pitre and family: Larry, Keith, Patricia, Tammy, Beverly, Daniel, Michelle, Michael, Keith Jr., Kevin Sr., Kasey, Kenneth, Stefanie, Patrick, Timothy; and great grandchildren: Kevin Jr., Angelle, and Anthony Jr. Sonny was a man of many interests and talents: electronics, radio communications, musician, golfer, pool shark, etc. He played the piano and guitar by ear. He has four officially-recognized holes-in-one scores in golf. He ran the board in pool 64 times without scratching. He served briefly in the US Air Force. Sonny was also known and very well liked for his willingness to help others, his humor, and often repeated phrase when asked how he was doing: “So damn good, it’s sickening.” He will be most greatly missed by his entire family and friends. A brief prayer service will be held at the gravesite at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, La., at 9:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2013. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.
