Manuel O. Guess passed away on August 11, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Interguglielmi Guess and beloved friend of the late Evelyn B. LeTard. Mr. Guess was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and a resident of New Orleans since 1933.
Mr. Guess retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1965 after serving 24 years of active duty during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Navy, he served as Golf Professional and Course Superintendent of the Naval Air Station Golf Course, Belle Chasse, La., for sixteen years. He was a graduate of Samuel J. Peters High School (Commy Hi) and attended the University-College at Tulane University for one year.
Mr. Guess was a former Class "A" Member of the Professional Golf Association of America and a Member of the Louisiana and Mississippi Golf Course Superintendents Association. He was past President and a Charter Member of the Koonass Golf Club. He was a Member of Timberlane Country Club, New Orleans Golf Association, Mississippi Seniors Golf Association, United States Golf Association, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 162, VFW Post 3121, American Legion Post 218 and American Vets Post 63.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth G. Guess of Diamondhead, Mississippi; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hebert Guess; two grandsons, Eric S. Guess (his wife Natalie) and Lee J. Guess (his wife Christina); two great-grandchildren, Adriana and Kai. Mr. Guess was preceded in death by his son, the late Emile Guess; parents, the late Harry C. Guess, Sr., and Irene Morton Guess; siblings, the late Daisy Phillips, Harry C. Guess, Jr., Billy V. Guess and Dora Frabbiele.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 8 AM to 11 AM.
