Ms. Margaret "Peggy” Simon Waters died peacefully at Passages Hospice on October 26, 2016 in New Orleans, La at the age of 96. Peggy is survived by her daughter Jan Saunders Hutchison; granddaughters, Hayley Hutchison Harang and Lacey Reina Hutchison; great grandchildren Lucy and Leo Harang; niece Dee Karp; and close friend, Laura Saunders. She is preceded in death by her daughter Jill Saunders Ali of New Orleans and her siblings, Harry Simon and Dorothy Simon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Peggy was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Harry Webster Simon and Jeannie Ravenor Simon. During WWII she served in the Naval Reserve as a member of the Woman Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service. Her family moved to New Orleans in 1952. She was a dedicated supporter to various charitable organizations including ASPCA and MADD. Until recently, she was an active and dedicated member of the Unity Church of Metairie and always shared her Daily Word with anyone who was interested. Most importantly, she loved life, taking walks in the sunshine, and enjoying time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La. on Monday, October, 31, 2016 from 10:30AM until 11:30AM followed by a service in the chapel at 11:30AM. Interment Westlawn Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The family would like to thank the loving care and support of her sitters and friends at the Landing At Berhman Place Retirement Community.
