Maria Erie Fernandez

Maria Erie Fernandez, age 84, of Terrytown, peacefully departed this life went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 23, 2015. She was the beloved wife of 62 years of Fabio F. Fernandez. Daughter of the late Pedro Segundo Lopez and Noemi Antonia Sanchez. Sister of Myriam Lopez Sanchez. With her passing she leaves behind two Beautiful and dutiful daughters, Marianela Fernandez Perricone and Teresita Fernandez Loetzerich. Five loving grandchildren, Robert S. Perricone, Adam J. Perricone, James Loetzerich, Madalyn Loetzerich and Emma Loetzerich. And Her two son-in-law's, Sal R. Perricone and Jay Loetzerich. Maria spent her last days and hours surrounded by her family and closest friends she helped and inspired throughout the years. She considered her most important role in life as that of a mother, grandmother and wife. Over years, she demonstrated unwavering generosity to her family and friends. She always put herself second. She was a spiritual lady who always knew her Lord was near. Now he is nearer than ever before. She was active member of Christ the King Catholic Church and participated in a weekly rosary group. Maria was born in Ciego De Avila, Cuba and fled her homeland for the freedom of the United States, when communism gripped her nation. After establishing a home for her family in New Orleans, she sought and found work at the Wembly Tie Factory where she proudly performed for many faithful and dedicated years. Besides her family, she leaves behind many friends, whom visited her during her last days. That support will never be forgotten. Services, celebrating her giving life and her sad passing, will be on Friday, January 30, 2015. Christ the King Catholic Church in Terrytown, LA. Visitation 12:00 to 1:00 mass to follow .
