Marie “Hazel” Dugas Saucier passed away on October 17, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born on September 27, 1934 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the late Luda Gautreaux and the late Arista Dugas. Hazel resided in Westwego, Louisiana with her husband of 24 years, Ronald P. Saucier. She was educated in Secretarial Science at Southwest Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana and in the early years worked as an Administrative Assistant and Stenographer in the legal, medical and industrial fields. In the latter years she held a variety of positions in the hospitality industry and often spoke of her role as Director of Purchasing at Hotel InterContinental. She was a successful real estate agent and before retiring worked as a Sales Coordinator for Evans Cooperage. Hazel was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for the past 59 years and a member of The Westwego Historical Society. She was a former member of Tulane University Women’s Association, Tulane Medical Center Auxiliary and The Krewe of Cleopatra. Hazel was an accomplished creative cook and a dinner prepared by her was an event to remember. Hazel was a member of Aurora Country club where she enjoyed playing tennis. She loved all aspects of her Cajun heritage, especially listening and dancing to the sounds of Cajun music. Hazel was the life of the party and to know her was to love her. She had many friends and lived her life to the fullest.

Hazel is survived by her children Cathy Glavina (Martin), Andrea Domingue (Larry), Yvonne Bezmalinovic (Nikica), Michelle Domingue, Jerry Domingue (Mollie), Marty Domingue (Linelle). She is also survived by her grandchildren Kelly Glavina, Nicole Murphy (William), Lynda Shilling (Will), James Domingue (Katie), Zachary Domingue, Mirko Bezmalinovic and Lelia Domingue; great grandchildren Blaine Beaumont (Kaycee), Madelyn Murphy, Walker Shilling, and Billy Murphy; sister-in-law Mary Zula Dugas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Arista Dugas, her mother Luda Gautreaux, her siblings Earl Dugas, Pearl Dugas Hebert & Mary Margaret Dugas, her godchild Allen Dugas and her grandson Joshua Schulman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her services at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA 70072 on Wednesday October 23, 2024. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a mass. Interment will be directly following at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Cemetery, Westwego, LA. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Maribel Munguia, Lola Fernandez and Rosa Amaya for the loving care given to Hazel. They treated her with dignity and compassion.
