Mark David Deane passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 48. He was born in New Orleans, LA, on November 3, 1975.
He is survived by his loving son, Lucas A. Deane; his parents Jo B. Lincks and Dr. Daniel A. Deane, and stepmother Dr. Gisela Mercado Deane; his brother, Arnaldo D. Deane; his aunts and uncles, Margaret Deane, Dionne Butler, Priscilla Butler, Jimmy Butler, and Mike Butler; many nieces and nephews; and his godmother, Beth Duncan Eubanks. He is also survived by his friends, Kevin and Val Estoque, Michael Fong, Joi Raines, Robert and Gina Heim, Jose Ariel (Jake) Ramos, David Rojas, Scott Salathe, Eli Ivory, Danny Lawless, and Eddie Marroquin as well as many others. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Danny Deane, Margaret Carolyn Deane, and his “Nanny,” Ann Arbo Butler.
A native of New Orleans, and proud resident of Gretna for over 45 years, Mark graduated from Jesuit High School, in 1993. After high school he attended Loyola University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication. Mark began his professional career as a News Editor at WGNO. Mark was successful and well respected as a sports broadcasting figure in the New Orleans area.
Mark was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time finding adventure. He was an avid and dedicated musician. He was a talented guitarist and played multiple wind instruments through high school and college. He loved electronics. He dabbled in audio/video equipment, video editing, podcasting with friends, and software development. He was considered an absolute grill master and mixologist. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. What he enjoyed the most was caring for his mother and being an exceptional role model to his son, whom he devoted all of his time to. Mark was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana 70056.
