Mary Ragas Whiteley, born September 21, 1930, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 2, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife of the late Carl Raymond Whiteley. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23. Loving mother to Lindaraye Latham (Walter “Walnut”), Mary Carla Meaux (LeRoy), Loreen Callais (James “Bimbo”), Chris Whiteley and the late Lucia and Baby Whiteley. Grandmother of Lucia “Lulu” Ragas, LeRoy “Tele” Meaux, Jr., James “Bim” Callais, Brianne Blakney, Joe Latham, Casey Meaux, Seth, Natalie, Megan and C.J. Whiteley. Also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Sister of Gerald Ragas, Karen Greene, Betty Carpenter and the late Lillian Ordoyne, Audrey Alesich, Leon, Ronnie and George Ragas, Jr. Preceeded in death by her parents Pearl Turlich Ragas and George Ragas, Sr. Mary was a native of Buras, LA where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Buras High School in 1947 and was an accomplished artist and seamstress. Thanks to the staff and residents of Riverbend Nursing Home for their loving care. Many went beyond their duty to show compassion. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 1 PM. Interment, Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery, Buras, LA. Parlors will be open on Thursday September 8, 2011 from 9 AM until 1 PM.
