Melvin E. Belala passed away on May 22, 2014 at the age of 67 years. Beloved husband of Rosalind LaDart Belala. Father of Rhonda K. Brown and Roxanne R. Belala. Father-in-law of Chris Brown. Grandfather of Kristi M. Faye and Erica A. Faye. Brother of Shirley Dufrene and the late George Breaux. Brother-in-law of the late Michael Dufrene and Shirley Breaux. Half-brother of Ronald Belala and Earl Belala. Half-brother-in-law of Barbara Belala and Muriel Belala. Son of the late Marguerite Bernard Belala Detillier and Joseph E. Belala. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Melvin served his country in the U.S. Army. He later retired from the State of Louisiana as a Loss Prevention Officer. He was a member of American Legion Post 222, A.P.A. (American Poolplayers Assoc.) and was a certified 1st Responder.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, May 26, 2014 for 11 AM. Interment will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 PM to 9 PM, resuming on Monday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
