Melvin C. Cicero

July 27, 1947 — December 5, 2011

Melvin C. “Pete” Cicero passed away on December 5, 2011. He was 64 years of age. Beloved husband of Theresa Gomez Cicero. Father of Buffy Blodgett (Alan), Jason Cicero (Shonnie), and Dustin Cicero. Stepfather of Terry White (Bobbie), and Scott White (Katie). Grandfather of Brianna, Sarah, Payton, Logan, Alexis, Caylee, Eric, Jason, Macy, Sadie, and Sophie. Son of the late Charles and Ruth Cicero and brother of Myrna LeBlanc (Noah) and Kathy Mariano (Anthony). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He graduated from Univ. of Southwestern Louisiana with a degree in Sociology and was a member of the USL wrestling team. He served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for over 10 years, worked as a private investigator for Colvin Hayes and Associates, and later as a Security Manager III for Avondale Shipyards, Northrop-Grumman and Huntington-Ingalls. Pete was awarded the nationally recognized Cogswell Award during his service with Avondale. He was past-president of the Louisiana Song Writers Association and was an accomplished musician/composer/performer. He will be remembered not only for expertise in his field and musical talents, but for his generosity, kindness, and infectious sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 PM to 10 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11 AM.
