Michael Kirby Barrett Jr.

Michael K. Barrett, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 87 after a short illness. Beloved wife of Lois Bordelon Barrett. Father of Michael K. Barrett, III, Michelle B. Frazier and Merry Kathryn B. Wagner. Grandfather of Victoria Wagner, Chelsey, Alexander and Marissa Barrett, and Ian and Dylan Frazier of Canon City, CO. Great Grandfather of Madelyn Wagner/Wattigney and William McKenzie of Lafayette, LA. Son of the late Michael K. Barrett and Iola Harvey Barrett Spence. Husband of the late Maeola Mercier. He will be sadly missed by a host of family and friends. Mike was a social and friendly man who never met a stranger. He loved to cook and dance. Mike retired as Lockmaster from the Corps of Engineers. He was a United States Marine and served proudly in World War II. He was a volunteer at World War II Museum and a member of AARP Algiers Chapter 3957. A Memorial Visitation will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3105 Eton Street, Algiers, LA on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Mass will be held at 11:00 am.
