PO1 Michael J. Blanchard Sr., U.S.N. (Ret.) passed away on December 24, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Beloved husband of the late Hilda Magee Blanchard. Father of Jacquelynn Blanchard, Michael J. Blanchard Jr. (Deborah), Elaine Blanchard and the late Wayne Blanchard. Grandfather of Heather, Kevin, Kelly, John, James, Julie and Jason. Great-grandfather of Landon, Logan, Jillian, Zachary, Benjamin, Bryce, Michael, Jeremy, Sophia and Lucas. Brother of the late Lloyd Blanchard. Son of the late Abraham and Lucy Comeaux Blanchard. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Michael served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was an aircraft mechanic who worked along with the 1st Marine Division during the Battle of Guadalcanal. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked at Tulane University in refrigeration and mechanical maintenance until his retirement.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held at the Magee Cemetery in Talisheek, LA for 2 PM.
