Michael “Mike” Irish from Riverview, Florida passed away at 12:04pm on Monday August 29, 2022 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He is survived by his wife Carol Davis Irish; daughter Rachael Irish from Indiana; two grandsons, Tyler and Cameron Wade from southern Indiana; two brothers, James Dokken from Tennessee and Bob Irish from Florida, and one sister, Judy Henry from Maine. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mert Irish from Maine, one brother Jack Dokken from Rhode Island and one sister, Mona Irish from Maine.
Mike was passionate about his job as a heavy civil bridge superintendent for Traylor Brothers Construction Group, working with them for over 30 years. He worked on the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York, IH NC Surge Barrier project in New Orleans and many other bridge and tunnel projects. He was on one of the episodes of “Build it Bigger” discussing the Surge Barrier in New Orleans. The Belle Chasse bridge and tunnel replacement was his current project.
Mike was a man of few words with wisdom, strength and integrity. He loved his family dearly including his dogs Laci and Charlie. In lieu of flowers the family would be pleased to have people donate or volunteer at their local animal shelter.
The celebration of life will be in Maine at a later time.
