Mildred "Millie" Ales

January 3, 1929 — February 4, 2016

Mildred “Millie” Ales (87) left to be with the Lord on February 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed gracefully and peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and special daughter Connie. She loved her children Trudy Gonzales Rhoades (Thomas, deceased), Ginger Ales Hutter (Keith) and Joseph Vincent Ales, Jr. (Ellen) and her grandchildren Heath Michael Rhoades, Tyler Joseph Ales, Alessa Kimberly Hutter and Haley Kristin Hutter. She enjoyed spending time with them and was so proud of all them. Millie touched the lives and was loved by so many people. In younger years, she loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with her Golden Girls Elsie and Dot. Her passion was spending time in her kitchen cooking. Friends and family could stop by any time for a meal, especially on Sunday, because you knew pasta gravy would be simmering on the stove. During the holidays, everyone looked forward to her Italian fig cookies. If you were lucky enough she’d give you some to take home but never the recipe. She loved football, especially her Saints. You couldn’t call her on a Sunday when “her boys” were playing because she was watching the game and checking her football pool to see if she won. She was definitely one of a kind. Millie was a Steel Magnolia: strong and stoic on the outside never showing her vulnerability when things were tough, but on the inside had a loving, giving heart and a faithful soul. When asked how she got through all the tough times in her life all she would say is “My Faith.” Her strong faith in the Lord shined through her and was felt by so many.
