Mildred “Millie” Ward Gerrets entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the age of 88. Beloved wife for 64 years of the late Melvin M. Gerrets. Loving mother of Marlene G. Pittari (Dominick) and the late Melvin M. Gerrets, Jr. (Jill). Devoted Maw Maw of Dominick A. Pittari, Jr. (Kerri), Brent M. Pittari (Holly), Melvin M. Gerrets III and Gregory M. Gerrets. Adored “GiGi” of great-grandchildren Ethan Grant Pittari, Mailey Elizabeth Pittari, and Morgan Grace Pittari. Daughter of the late Clarence E. Ward and Rosa E. Ward. Sister of the late Clarence E. Ward, Jr., Rose W. Hargis, and John R. Ward. Millie was born and raised in Woodville, MS before moving to Algiers, LA in 1946, where she resided for 28 years. She resided in Belle Chasse, LA for 36 years and relocated to Slidell, LA in 2010, following her husband’s death. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Saturday, May 31, 2014, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Msgr. Harry Bugler will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.
