Miriam Toledo Wattigney

Miriam Toledo Wattigney, of Marrero, Louisiana passed away peacefully in her home on March 15, 2025. She was the loving wife of Paul Wattigney for over 47 years. Devoted mother of son, Donald Kahrs Jr. (Stephanie), and daughter, Tanya Wattigney (James). She was the proud grandmother of five: Britainni Kahrs, Marisa Shelby-Smoke, Adrianna Shelby, Santiago Tinajero and Sonny Richards. She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Delia Garcia, brother, Sergio Garcia, grandparents, Francesca Juarez and Juan Matias and by her loving Aunt, the late Marta Simpson (Hugh P. Simpson). She is also survived and will be forever remembered by her brother, Ernest Garcia (Sara) and niece and nephew, Sara and Jonathan, as well as four great grandchildren.

Miriam was born in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala and was a resident of Marrero, Louisiana for over 45 years. She radiated kindness and cared deeply, truly, and unconditionally about the people around her. Her faith was as unwavering as her love. She lived her entire life as a devoted Catholic, serving in adoration and as a Eucharistic Minister for the sick at St. John Bosco Church. Her memory, love and strength will forever live on in those whose lives she touched.

The family extends a heartfelt debt of gratitude to The Heart of Hospice. Bridgette Singleton & Dr. Chris Joplin will always have a special place in our hearts for the kindness, compassion and care you provided to the Wattigney family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, on March 21, 2025, at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd Marrero, LA. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM followed by a Catholic Mass, and burial at Westlawn Memorial Park 1225 Whitney Ave. Terrytown, LA.
