She loved her five precious grandchildren with all of her heart Emmett Cassreino, Emma Cassreino, Christopher Cortez Jr., Caroline Cortez, and Chandler Cortez. These babies were the light of her life.

She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews: Misty Permenter (Zack), Justin Hirdes (Dylan), Kyle Hirdes (Kristen), Megan McKay, Ashley Alvendia (Paul), Erica Ehrhardt (Philip), Eusebio Gongora (Ashley), and Nicholas Gongora (Carlye). Monica also loved all of her great nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed having one-on-one time with them. She also had a passion for sewing and cooking. If you knew Moncia, you are sure to have a favorite dish that she had cooked.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Marrero on Friday, December 16, 2022. Visitation will be from 9am-12pm with services starting at noon. Please visit
