Myrna C. Schultheis

October 27, 1928 — August 31, 2023

Belle Chasse, LA

Myrna Chauffe Schultheis, of Belle Chasse, LA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on August 31st, 2023 at the age of 94.  Beloved wife of the late William Andrew Schultheis, Sr. for 50 years.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and devoted Catholic.

Myrna was born on October 27, 1928 to the late Leonce Paul Chauffe and Althea Robique Chauffe in Grosse Tete, LA and was raised in Gretna, LA, and presided in Belle Chasse for 64 years.   After Gretna High School, she was employed by Bell South Telephone Company for many years and Plaquemines Parish School Board as a Bus Driver for seventeen years.

Above all else, Myrna was a woman of deep faith who loved God and lived her life according to Catholic values.  She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  Her faith was an integral part of her life and she found comfort and strength.  A lifelong resident of Southern Louisiana, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching theLSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, Mardi Gras, eating good food, crawfish season and sharing memorable stories.  She had an admirable personality and a great sense of humor, charitable nature and no-nonsense attitude.  She could always bring joy and laughter into any conversation.  She never met a stranger and made sure everyone felt like family.  But Myrna’s heart really belonged to her family and friends, whom she made happy every day.  Myrna will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous woman who lived a devoted life to Christ and her presence and energy made a lasting impression on everyone she met.

The loss of Myrna will be deeply felt by her children William (Billy) Schultheis, Jr. (Karen), Graylin Schultheis Sr. (Melissa), and Lori Schultheis Adams; grandchildren: William (Andy) Schultheis III (Krista), Graylin Schultheis, Jr., Alissa Schultheis Lally (Roy IV), and Garret Trahan; great-grandchildren: Tahj Bounpheng, Laiken and Kane Schultheis, Roy V & Ryder Lally, Cash, William and Harper Schultheis.  She is the sister of the late Anthony Gerald Chauffe, late Leonce Paul Jr., late Jackie Joseph Chauffe, late Jacqueline Chauffe Hebert, late Barbara “Bobbie” Jean O’Leal, and a host of nieces, nephews and loyal friends.  Her extended family especially the Landry’s and her Canadian’s who she loved so dearly.  Her spirit and love will forever be part of the strong bond they shared.

Myrna also channeled her passion and service work outside of the home along with her husband becoming Cub Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Brownie Leader and most of all Girl Scout Leader, Troop #303, for over twenty years.  They provided great role modeling and positive development with the utmost courage, respect, empathy and gratitude.  They travelled each summer in their personal motor home with their Girl Scout Troop around the United States and even traveling abroad to Europe.

Myrna received the highest ranking award in Girl Scouting of Ambassador and earned the Gold Award by developing and carrying out lasting solutions in the Belle Chasse Community and beyond.  She definitely left a lasting impact on her community, and her Troop #303 Girls still remained in touch with her. She also participated in the European Foreign Study League for High School and College Students for many years.

If you’ve noticed that the world is a little less brilliant, it’s because we lost an incredible woman.  She will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
