Nancy Shindler Triplett

Nancy Shindler Triplett, formerly of Newburgh , IN , died on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Ms. Triplett was born in Evansville , IN to Harold and Marie Shindler on January 11, 1927. She was a resident of The Landing at Behrman Place then St. Luke’s Living Center . Nancy enjoyed the rhythm of the city and loved the people of New Orleans Nancy was a 1944 graduate of Reitz Memorial Catholic High School and attended St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute , IN. After her graduation in 1948, she made a career of teaching for the Catholic Diocese in Owensboro, KY and then in Evansville, IN, teaching at Good Shepherd Grade School for 25 years. She considered teaching for the diocese an obligation to the Catholic faith that she dearly loved. Married to F H “Tim” Triplett on December 29th, 1951, settling after some years in her childhood home in Newburgh , IN , Nancy was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. With her husband, she was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club where she loved to play golf. She noted the number of putts on her scorecard; every hole, every round. She and Tim spent each Christmas in Ft. Lauderdale , FL , and both loved to travel. She often told friends, students and family to keep a bag packed and hit the road when the opportunity presented itself.Inheriting a vocation of service to others from her mother, Marie, Nancy was a past president of the St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary and a Pink Lady volunteer for many years. After her teaching career, she substitute taught only at Reitz Memorial, her beloved High School.Ms. Triplett is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Triplett White, son-in-law Clayton White, grandchildren, Kai, Alex, and Emily White and Katie and Claire Triplett, all of New Orleans , Louisiana . Also surviving are her cherished son, Tim Triplett, and good friend, daughter-in-law, Diane Gore Triplett of Newburgh, IN.Nancy was a motivator who truly understood that what could be perceived could, therefore, be achieved. Her greatest regret was that she did not own a car her last years in New Orleans . It was her intention, each and every day, to go and buy one. In lieu of flowers, Nancy would want you to support your preferred charities, be kind to others, and live in a healthy manner. Private services will be conducted at a later date in Indiana.
