Ned Francis LeBlanc passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, on October 20, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 23 from 6 PM to 9 PM. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 Thursday, October 24 at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Algiers, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – NE Chapter, 1008 Winscott Rd., Suite B, Fort Worth, TX 76126. Ned, was born in Houma, Louisiana on May 7, 1923 to the parents of late Abel Joseph LeBlanc and Mary Marquerite Isabell Guidry. He was the brother of Dan, and the late Abel, Nan, Erin, Yves, Yvonne and Meryl. Ned was a graduate of Terrebonne High and Louisiana State University College of Engineering. He then worked as an engineer for Chevron from 1945 to 1985. He married Vietta Lucille Lambdin on November 10, 1949, and the two raised seven children in Algiers, Louisiana: Lynette Rodgers, Ned LeBlanc Jr., Joseph LeBlanc, Mary Henkes, Patricia Gnatzig, Pamela Jurenka. Devoted grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In 1959, Ned became the first living organ donor in Louisiana when he donated a kidney to his twin brother Abel, who passed away in 1987. Ned was a recipient of the St. Louis Medal of Honor for his philanthropic work with St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Other community services Ned was involved with included: Chairperson of the Brechtel Park Advisory Board in 1979, volunteer for the Boy Scout Troop 64, and head track coach of the Flashette Track Club. The family would like to express their gratitude to his caretaker Dorothy Kemp for her love, compassion and support.
He was preceded in death by his wife, twin infant sons, daughter Cecile, his parents and siblings.
