Nelson Andrew Chaisson

March 9, 1945 — March 29, 2015

Nelson Andrew Chaisson entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Beloved husband of Connie Kreamer Chaisson for almost 50 years. Son of the late Nelson Chaisson and Sedonia Bourgeois. Father of Andrea Chaisson Poljan (Patrick) of Austin, TX. Grandfather of Madison, Benjamin, and Kathryn Poljan. Brother of Michael Chaisson (Jan), Lawrence Chaisson, Stanley Lepine, and Jimmy Lepine (Jessica). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Age 70 years, a native of the Westbank, and resident of Marrero, LA, then Belle Chasse, LA for the last 18 years. He spent his final months in Austin, TX surrounded by his loving family.
Nelson enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 and retired honorably in 1992. He was a QM1 Riverine Boat Captain with numerous honors and medals from Navy Special Forces, Navigation, and Spec Warfare Operations. His second career was with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for the Marrero Post Office. He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse as a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member and past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Rotary Club and American Legion in Belle Chasse, as well as member and past District President of St. Vincent de Paul Society. He also attended Manresa Retreat House for over 40 years. In 2010, Nelson was awarded the St. Louis Medallion by Archbishop Aymond. Nelson loved to spend his free time with is grandchildren, traveling, and cheering on LSU Football and Baseball Teams as a member of Deep South Tigers Booster Club. He will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 6 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Belle Chasse, LA from 9 AM until Funeral Mass time at 12 Noon. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Conference, 8968 Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037 or call 504-394-0314.
