Nicholas Arthur Genovese, Jr, CPA, MBA, born March 23, 1943, age 71, returned home to the waiting arms of his parents Nicholas A Genovese, Sr. and Elma Verret Genovese, his sister Elma "Honey" Genovese Campbell, and his brother-in-law Richard Campbell on January 28, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Robertson Genovese, daughter, Mary Genovese Boudreaux, son-in-law Stephen Boudreaux, son Nicholas A Genovese, III, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Genovese, 5 beloved grandchildren, Catherine Cecelia Boudreaux, Olivia Marie Boudreaux, Giovanni Frances Genovese, Sophia Grace Genovese and Alexandra Love Genovese, a sister Maureen Genovese Schexnaydre, husband, Kurt Schexnaydre, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Nick taught accounting at the Tulane School of Continuing Studies for 30 years and shared his love of accounting with over 2400 students. His love for accounting and teaching earned him numerous awards and student recognition. His awards consisted of: 1987-1988 Teacher Excellence Award; 2001-2002 Emily H Vokes Faculty Service Award; 2004-2005 John Percy Dyer Award for Teaching Excellence. From 2001-2004 he served on the Faculty Fellow Business Studies Committee. He also served as a Tulane member on the Accounting Education Issues Committee for the Louisiana CPA Society.
Nick retired from the Louisiana Department of Revenue as the District Director in 2002. After his retirement he became a member of SOLA and became the treasurer of the RWA Chapter. He spent countless hours every year overseeing the Dixie Kane contest, helping with workshops and promoting the Heather Graham Pozzessere workshop every year. Nick will be sorely missed by family, members of his beloved SOLA group and countless students and faculty at Tulane University.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 10 AM until 1:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be said at 1:30 PM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
