Norma Jean Bair passed away Saturday September 6, 2014. She was born
November 13,1942, Daughter to the late Doctor and Rancher Robert Sims and Loraine Lois Hardin of Ivanhoe CA. Norma graduated from Redwood High School in Visalia, CA and University of California, Berkeley in 1964. She met and married a Naval Officer, Gary Bair while working on her Masters in Painting at Berkeley in 1965, Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Captain Gary Bair USN (Ret), and sons John Scott Bair and Paul Barton "Bart" Bair (Lori); granddaughters, Kaylin Marie Bair and Gillian Diane Bair, and her brother Robert Hardin and sister Barbara Beck. Norma excelled in a 31-year career as Navy wife, mother, and volunteer. She worked as a Navy Relief volunteer at several duty stations. She was active in the DAR and a leader of numerous Navy Wives Clubs, including the Military Officers Wives Club and Navy Officer Wives Club of New Orleans. Norma was also active in the New Orleans Commandery of the Naval Order of the United States and the GNO Council of the Navy League of the United States. And she could really cook!
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Services in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy, Harvey, La on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11am. Visitation will be held Friday morning at the funeral home from 9am-11am.
