Norman Joseph Plaisance Jr. (Spanky)

Norman Joseph Plaisance Jr., affectionately known as Spanky, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, at Passages Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 30, 1946, in Harvey, Louisiana. Norman's life was filled with passion for his beloved New Orleans Saints and a deep appreciation for all things related to gambling.

Spanky had a unique personality that endeared him to many. He had an incredible ability to remember faces but struggled when it came to recalling names. This quirk made Norman an unforgettable character in the lives of those who knew him.

Son of the late Norman J. Plaisance, Sr. and Eunice Chiasson Plaisance. He was preceeded in death by his only sibling, Sandra Plaisance Sanamo. 

Norman is survived by his loving daughters, Dana Plaisance (the late Sgt. Troy Thibodeaux) and Kami Plaisance (Chrissie). Despite the challenges life threw their way, Spanky's strong bond with his daughters remained unbreakable. Their enduring love and unwavering support brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his nephew Jeremy Sanamo (Reuben), godchild Scott Sanamo (Celeste), great nephews/nieces (Konner, Elizabeth, Kylie and Luke) as well as a host of aunts, uncles, godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who all adored him.

Norman was formerly married to Gayle Braud Plaisance, who provided him with years of companionship and shared memories. Although their paths eventually diverged, they cherished the moments they spent together and remained friends until the end.

To honor Norman Joseph Plaisance Jr., visitation and funeral services have been scheduled at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes in Marrero, Louisiana. The visitation will take place on August 28, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. It will be an opportunity for family members and friends to come together and share stories of their beloved Spanky.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, allowing loved ones to pay their final respects to a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. The services will be a time for reflection, a moment to celebrate the legacy that Norman has left behind. Interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetary.

Norman Joseph Plaisance Jr., otherwise known as Spanky, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory continue to bring smiles and warmth to our hearts as we remember the joy he brought into our lives.
