Ollie Hollis Jr.

Bishop Ollie D. Hollis, Jr. gained his wings on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 78 years old. Bishop Ollie was born on June 8, 1946 to the late Ollie Hollis Sr. and the late Doris Daigle Hollis. He is survived by his twin sister Olive H. Keller (the late Stephen), brothers Darrell J. Hollis (Toni), and Charles J. Hollis (Angie). Uncle and great-uncle of Nicole Keller, Andrew Gutierrez, Alice Batman, the late Travis, Jason, Christopher Keller, Charlie J. Hollis Jr., Sabrina Hollis, the late Joshua Hollis, Brad Matherne (Shelley), Darrell David Hollis, Ashley and Bain Manning. He is also survived by many great-great nieces and cousins. Ollie retired from the Jefferson Parish School Board as a teacher at Grand Isle High School after 30 years of service. He was honored as Teacher of the Year and was a Vietnam Veteran for the US Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 3121. After retirement, he was a resident of Loranger, LA and the Yoga Bear Campground in Robert, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service for Ollie in the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Exp., in Harvey, LA on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 1:30PM. Visitation will begin at 9AM. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave. in Gretna, LA.
