O’Neil J. Becnel, Sr. passed away on September 21, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of the late Rita Barrilleaux Becnel. Father of David G. Becnel, Sr. (Darlene), O’Neil J. Becnel, Jr. (Debbie), Judy Becnel LeBlanc (Babson), Karen Becnel and Barbara Becnel Ingram (Robert). Grandfather of Heather, Heidi, Joshua, Brandi, Chrystal, Darcy, Nicole, Tommy, Rebekah, Christopher, Robert Jr., O’Neil III, Baylen and the late David. Great-grandfather “Paw-Paw Chicken Neil” of Ashley, Kayla, Alyssa, Desire, Michael, Joshua, Jeffery, Jeslin, Stephanie, Olivia, Lynzee, Joshua Jr., Conner, Parker and Chloe. Brother of Velma Schexnayder, Louise Stute, Helen Brookman, Paul Becnel and the late Joseph Becnel. Son of the late Elodie Falgoust Becnel and Joseph P. Becnel, Sr.
As a U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during World War II, retired from Southern-Pacific Railroad and was a member of Immaculata K of C Council #4222, a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 3121 and a Life Member of American Legion Post 222.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 6 PM to 10 PM, resuming on Tuesday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
