Ophelia Lorio Knox

Ophelia Lorio Knox, 93, died Monday, November 20, 2023.  Mrs. Knox was a native of Hahnville and lived in Gretna.

Mrs. Knox is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Paul Webster Knox, her parents Merrille Lorio and Alma Marie Laurent Lorio, stepmother Marie Lorio, her daughter Susan Powers and her husband James, her sisters Sybil, and Nola, Nelda, and her brothers Lawrence, Randolph, Wallace, Harold and Donatien. She is survived by her sisters Marylee Lorio Ockman and Alice Lorio Perez, her sons Karl (Kay), Francis (Patty), Ronald, Gene (Donna), and Lawrence (Tammy) Knox, her daughter Rose Knox, her grandsons Michael, David, Joshua, Jacob and Justin Knox and granddaughter Shae-Lee Mathieu, and her great grandchildren Bailey, Brooke, Bree, Nia, Analyn, Skylar Knox and Carter Mathieu.

Mrs. Knox attended Hahnville high school and worked at D.H. Homes as well as TJ Maxx until she retired. She was involved in Mary’s Helpers Christian Organization, was a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church and a breast cancer survivor.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 29 from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Mothe Funeral Home in Marrero, 7040 Lapalco Blvd Marrero, LA 70072. The rosary will be recited at 11:30 A.M with the celebration of life at 12:00 P.M. followed by the interment at Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094.

In Leu of Flowers, the deceased requests donations for breast cancer research at Krewe de Pink, a local charity that raises money for breast cancer research at Tulane Cancer Center. Arrangements by Mothe Funeral Home.
