Oscar Vincent Creppel

Oscar Vincent Creppel of Lafitte, La. passed on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 5pm. Beloved husband of Yvonne Perrin Creppel. Father of Barbara Hymel, Brenda Wade & Angeline LeBlanc. Son of the late Ida Billiot and Vincent Creppel. Brother of Renee Sonnier and the late Evelyn Guidry, Laverna Nunnery, Esther Bendich, Laura Creppel, and Herman Creppel. Grandfather of Tyrie, Tricia, Gerard, Calvin, Jamie, Gareth, Lanvin, and Keenon. Also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Creppel served his country in the US Army as a member of the 156 Infantry Regiment 31st Infantry Division, also known as the “Dixie Division”. He was a soldier in WWII where he served his country proudly and gallantly in the Europe, Africa, and Middle East Theater of Operations. Until his death, Mr. Creppel held the honor of being the oldest Veteran in the Lafitte area. He also was the first man drafted from the Lafitte area during WWII. The freedom that he paid for with his service to our country will live on with all of us, and with his death “OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING BECAUSE THIS SOLDIER PASSED AWAY”!
Mr. Creppel is a life long resident of Lafitte, La. Relatives and Friends of the Family, also Employees of Chevron, Members of Knights of Columbus Counsel 7350, and American Legion Post 344, and L.A.A.G. are invited to attend a visitation at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lafitte, La. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 9am until 1pm. A funeral mass will be held at 1pm in Church. Interment at St. Pius X Mausoleum, Crown Point, La. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.
