Pearl Sazdoff West

June 8, 1925 — March 3, 2012

Pearl Sazdoff West begin her journey to heaven Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 12:23 pm. She fought a valiant battle with breast cancer; and would encourage anyone facing cancer to seek out alternative treatments which far exceed remission rates to the current cancer treatment methods, primarily being chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Had she known about these alternative methods, she would not have undergone biopsies, the mastectomy, or the radiation therapy which followed. She would have treated this cancer from within, through nutrition, by which many others have achieved remission. Pearl, during her time here on this earth, was an inspiration to all who knew her. A loyal and devoted mother to her children, this devotion and loyalty extended to her many cousins, and friends whom she dearly loved. Pearl was a catholic. Her faith in God carried her through life easily and effortlessly. Always concerned for others, she often set her needs last, taking care of her family and close loved ones first. Pearl had a love for her two children which transcended understanding. This love created a close bond which made it easy to endure the hardest trials life placed in their path. Pearl was born in New Orleans. She attended Marrero Middle School, then Homedale High School. She resided in Harvey, La. until she married. Once married, she set up residence in nearby Marrero, La. where she raised her two children, Marilyn and George. Pearl worked for The Celotex company for many years before she married. Later, she was employed by the New Orleans Speech and Hearing center. She also worked for many years at Maison Blanche; later acquired by Dillard’s. Her employment encompassed both the Westside location, as well as Clearview. Pearl is preceded in death by her second husband John H. West, her daughter Marilyn G Sazdoff Harrison, her first husband George J. Sazdoff, and her parents Noah and Ursula Becnel, She is survived by her son, George G Sazdoff, Son In Law, Marshall Harrison, and many cousins and friends. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, 600 2nd Ave.,Harvey,LA on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:30PM.
