Peggy Thibodeaux Harris, age 65, of Harvey, La. resident of Mandeville, LA, where she resided with her son and daughter in law for the last six years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 13, 2024. Born on January 9, 1959, in New Orleans, LA, she was the youngest of 3 children to her parents Joseph and Rowena (Bobbie) B. Thibodeaux. Peggy was a vibrant community member, actively participating in the You Night Empowering Sisterhood Class of 2020 and the Westbank Elks Lodge 2496. She was also a member of the Immaculata Guitar Group Class of 1977. Her infectious positivity and dedication to others left a lasting impact on many lives.
In her life Peggy never met a soul she did not like. Her smile lit up any room she entered. Her smile shined like the brightest sun on a hot summer day. She was always the life of any party. Her children, grandchildren, and family were her whole world. She was the person we all went to for advice, a recipe, or if you needed that shoulder to lean on. She was the rock of our family. She was the one who called you the morning of your birthday, not to just tell you happy birthday, but to sing you happy birthday. Even through her journey battling Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, she was always positive and uplifting. She was a fighter, with the biggest heart of anyone you could ever meet. If you were her friend, she was a great friend to have, She was the friend to reach out and make sure everything was ok in your life. Even most of her children’s friends looked at her as a second mother. She loved a good get together for any occasion. She loved to dance. She loved parades, seafood boils, parties, and any occasion where people were coming together. She even made the newspaper once after hurricane Katrina, she threw a block party, and they did an article talking about her bringing people together after such a horrendous tragedy. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Damion Harris (Corinne) and Shenae Percle (Jason); grandchildren, Mason Harris, Zacharie Percle (Hailey), Jayden Percle, and Sophie Percle; great-grandson, Rowan Percle; She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Thibodeaux Rieskind (Norman); sister-in-law, Brenda Thibodeaux; Godmother to Dawn Dauzat Moll (Jerry); nephew, Joseph Dauzat (Keith); niece and nephew, Angie LeBlanc (Steven) and David Boyd; great-nieces and nephews, Gabrielle Moll (Dace), Gaige Moll, Gracie Moll, Tyler Dauzat, Dylan Dauzat, and Cierra Smith; and her great-great nieces, MaKenna Duffy, MaLayna Duffy, Magnolia Duffy, Kassie Dauzat, and Ava Perez. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Thibodeaux and Rowena B. Thibodeaux and her brother, Charles R. Thibodeaux. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Faizan I. Malik and his staff, the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice for their compassionate care.
