Philip J. Loyacano, at the age of 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Gretna, LA and a resident of Harvey for the past 57 years. Beloved husband of the late June Walker Loyacano. Father of Wayne Loyacano (Deborah) and Karen Loyacano Gauthier. Son of the late Jake and Josephine Loyacano. Brother of the late Russel, Sam, Carlo, Paul Loyacano, and Bertha Loyacano Rizzotto. Grandfather of Melissa Richardson, Wayne Loyacano, Lauren Gauthier, and Michelle Gauthier. Survived by five great-grandchildren and his special loving friend Marilyn Silbernagel. He proudly served his country in WWII under General George Patton. His artillery unit, in the 3rd Army, was involved in conflict in all 5 battles of the European Theatre. He worked for Mothe Funeral Homes for over 40 years and as a security guard at West Jefferson Medical Center for the past 10 years. He also served on the West Jefferson Levee District for 21 years. He was a charter member of the Gretna Sportsmen’s Club, and organizer of the Father and Son Bowling League, and a founder of the Original Westside Carnival Club. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA, on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11:00am. Following the mass, a traditional jazz procession will begin at 9th & Newton Streets in Gretna, and proceed to the Hook and Ladder Cemetery for Interment. Visitation will begin at 9:00am.
