If you have any photos of yourself with her, please make a copy to put on a collage that will be on display for all to share her memory. Rachel graduated from Belle Chasse High School in 2010 and continued her education at Delgado Community College and Nursing School, with a Registered Nursing Degree. Rachel had a sensational sense of humor that could make you laugh even on your worst days. She was an exceptionally talented artist and was in gifted and talented classes beginning in elementary school. Her high school art teacher recently told me that he still uses some of her artwork to this day. Rachel loved working with people, and had a huge love of animals. Rachel suffered with social anxiety, depression and emotional distress. Her comic relief was her way of disguising her pain. In today's society when we see such a young person pass away, many assume that there's just another addict gone. That couldn't be further from the truth. As you will see below, Rachel was a proud mother, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, niece, and the best friend you could ever have in your corner. Addiction has no boundaries, no racial biases, no one is exempt from being touched by its evil hold. If you know someone touched by this disease, please don't judge them…reach out and ask if there's anyway you can help, maybe the addicted, maybe the loved one trying to save them. Waiting until the last breath has been taken, is too late. Rachel is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William Roy Martin and Rena Marie Martin; grandfather, Donald Howell, and her step mother Darla Tatosian Martin.
Rachel is survived by her beloved daughter, Nora Meadow LaLonde: parents, Donna Howell and Mark Duerr, Joe and Joanne Martin, siblings, Chad Granger, Brennan Granger, Terri Ann Martin, Kristi Martin, step siblings, Kristin Duerr, Trinity Duerr and Richard Moreland: Aunts, Hope Pruet (Sam), Bonnie Franklin,Carrie Martin Karri (Kirk), Lisa Martin Warren ( Howie): Grandparents, James and Marlene Moore: Nieces and nephews, Ian Granger, Lola Granger and Brantly Granger.
